Here is a message left on MACC’s voicemail before the symposium began. This guy should have attended the symposium, maybe he would have learned something!
Despite this hollow and silly threat, the symposium went on without a hitch, or a glitch! It was a great success!
We had over a hundred participants who were able to hear and see different experiences and topics around the subject of immigration. MACC hopes that this is the start of something new, as we enter the future with much hope. We also celebrated our 35th anniversary with a gala the night before the symposium began. It was also a great success. Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta gave the keynote address. The recognition of MACC’s contribution to the Church and society was quite inspiring and humbling. Felicidades to our award winners that night ( The Guadalupanas , HEB, and Archbishop Jose Gomez of San Antonio). I think it was incredibly symbolic, and telling, that we had a very pleasurable evening celebrating the accomplishments of MACC after 35yrs, and immediately went about our work with the symposium the next day. There is no time to rest on our laurels! Christ’s mission continues! And so does our part in that mission. ¡Viva MACC!
